Thrivent Puts Purpose into Action at 2026 Special Olympics USA Games

Jun 18, 2026

Thrivent’s sponsorship will deliver hands-on generosity activations and engaging experiences to thousands of athletes, volunteers and fans.

MINNEAPOLIS (June 18, 2026) – Thrivent, a Fortune 500 financial services company that puts generosity at the heart of saving and investing, is a sponsor of the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Through the partnership, Thrivent will help support the nearly 3,000 athletes competing in front of over 75,000 fans, as well as the 10,000 volunteers who make the Games a reality.

“The Special Olympics USA Games is about connection, resilience and showing the world what’s possible when people come together,” said Thrivent’s Chief Growth & Generosity Officer Carolyn Sakstrup. “This partnership is a natural fit for Thrivent because it shows how we put our purpose into action – empowering lives of service and faith. We’re honored to support these incredible athletes and the volunteers who make it all possible, helping create moments of joy, belonging and impact that last long after the closing ceremony.”

Thrivent will show up during the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in three meaningful ways, including:

  • Serving as the presenting sponsor of Fan Fest, the week-long public celebration outside Huntington Bank Stadium at the University of Minnesota, featuring interactive games, giveaways and experiences that showcase Thrivent’s purpose-based approach to financial advice and generosity.
  • Leading a generosity activation in athlete village, where athletes and volunteers will make fleece blankets and cards for Fleece and Thank You, a nonprofit that supports children facing extended hospital stays and treatment. This spirit of generosity is the heart of Thrivent. In 2025 alone, Thrivent clients and others raised and donated $464 million through Thrivent’s generosity programs and volunteered 17.2 million hours toward community service.
  • Empowering Thrivent employees to give back - more than 200 team members are volunteering their time and support during the Games. One team member, an avid volunteer, is especially proud to support the Special Olympics. Her son, Mitchell, is an athlete who has found community and purpose through the Games – watch his inspiring story here.

The Games, taking place June 20–26, 2026, mark the first time in more than three decades they’ve been held in Minnesota – creating a unique opportunity to celebrate inclusion, community and service on a national stage, while introducing more people to Thrivent.
