Thrivent announces 2019 board election results

MINNEAPOLIS (February 3, 2020) – Thrivent announced today the results of its 2019 national board of directors election. The election, which takes place annually, is open to eligible Thrivent members who cast their vote choosing who will represent them on the national board of directors.

The board consists of 14 members and is led by Bonnie Raquet, chair of the board. As Thrivent’s supreme governing body, the board is responsible for overseeing all matters involving Thrivent and focuses on serving the interests of Thrivent’s members, now and in the future.

Three incumbents reelected to board of directors
Kirk Farney, Frederick Kraegel and Kathryn Marinello were reelected to serve another term. Farney has been on the board since 2011, serving as chair of the Strategy Committee and as a member of the Finance and Executive Committees. Joining the board in 2008, Kraegel is currently chair of the Finance Committee and serves as a member of the Strategy and Executive Committees. Marinello has been on the board since 2014, chairing the Human Resource Committee and serving as a member of the Finance and Executive Committees.

Ackerman and Rieger appointed to board
Deborah Ackerman is co-founder and senior advisor to Twin Bridge Capital Partners, a private equity firm in Chicago. She is chair-elect of the Illini Leadership Council, and previously served as director and executive chair of the Thrivent Member Network-Chicagoland Region. In addition, Ackerman is an active leader at her church where she is a deacon, Sunday school teacher and liturgist. She graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana with a B.S. in finance and has an MBA in finance from the Kellogg School of Management. Ackerman resides with her family in Wilmette, Ill.

Angela Rieger is senior vice president of planning and head of international at Lands’ End. She currently is on the board of Women in Retail Leadership Circle and is a mentor for Building Brave. She previously served as executive chair for the Thrivent Member Network-South Wisconsin Region and was on the boards of Doyenne and the Edgewood Athletic Association. She received her B.S. in organizational leadership from the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois, Urbana. Rieger resides with her family in Madison, Wis.

Their terms are effective on February 1, 2020.

Alice Richter retires from the board
Alice Richter is retiring from the board of directors due to term limits. Richter has served on Thrivent’s board since 2007. She chaired the Audit Committee and was a member of the Human Resource and Executive Committees.

“We are grateful for Alice’s board service,” said Bonnie Raquet, chair of the board. “But we are even more thankful for the financial and audit expertise she brought to the board, and her dedication to the purpose and mission of Thrivent.”
